I just got my Motorola Backflip about a week ago. I'd like to get the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools 5.0, but I don't need or want a CD and a data cable and a box and someone delivering the darn thing to my doorstep when there are these things called the internet and software licenses. I've been searching for a while now, and haven't had any luck finding a downloadable software only version of MTP. The owner support page mentions that MTP can be purchased from Best Buy. All I saw on the Best Buy website was the 'Susteen - Data Pilot Back-up and Sync Kit for Most Motorola Cell Phones'. That doesn't sound like MTP to me. I don't know, I suppose Motorola could have outsourced the software development to Susteen, but if that is the case then how do I know that the Susteen branded version matches the Motorola branded version?
Just trying to be green here. I am perfectly willing to pay for the software, I just don't want all that plastic, cardboard and transportation wasted on something I'm going to throw away after I load it on my laptop. I've already got two cables for the phone. I don't need another cable plus a cable for some other phone. I guess I should have been a little more clear about what I am trying to do.
I've got Media Link, that's great for Pictures and MP3's. What I want to be able to do is sync the phone with Outlook including contacts, calendar, notes and to-do lists. I think MPT may have that capability. There may be a better way to get this job done.
I have been playing with an evaluation copy of Companion Link. I want to make an informed decision as to whether to purchase Companion Link or MPT. I was thinking that MPT might be a better route. Any thoughts on the subject?
